If you\u2019ve stopped receiving individual or daily updates, then this article is for you!<\/p>\n<p><em>Our Getting to Grips to Groups.io mini-series continues with a look at how to view previous messages in groups.io.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Groups.io holds all the messages exchanged between FrenchNet members for the last quarter of a century \u2013 all the way back to the year 2000!! So there is a wealth of information stored in there, but how do you find it? The best way is to take a few minutes to explore the Messages section of groups.io, and don\u2019t worry about pressing on the wrong button \u2013 you can\u2019t break it! We\u2019d love to hear what you find most interesting and\/or useful, or if you have any top tips to share. First, if you click on the \u201cMessages\u201d dropdown menu and choose \u201cTopics\u201d, all the messages with the same title (an original message and all its replies) will be summed up as one entry.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2189\" src=\"https:\/\/iti-frenchnetwork.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/GGG_messages_Image3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"206\" height=\"135\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the example below, you can see that there are 13 messages with the title \u201cThree most read French novels?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2190\" src=\"https:\/\/iti-frenchnetwork.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/GGG_messages_Image4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"602\" height=\"60\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iti-frenchnetwork.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/GGG_messages_Image4.jpg 602w, https:\/\/iti-frenchnetwork.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/GGG_messages_Image4-300x30.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 602px) 100vw, 602px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you then go back to the dropdown menu at the top, you\u2019ll see it has changed from Messages to Topics. When you click on \u201cTopics\u201d and choose \u201cMessages\u201d, these 13 messages will be displayed separately once again.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2191\" src=\"https:\/\/iti-frenchnetwork.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/GGG_messages_Image5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"175\" height=\"139\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Looking at the rest of this dropdown menu, if you click on \u201cExpanded\u201d, you\u2019ll see the full content of each message. And if you click on Polls, you\u2019ll see it\u2019s empty, because FrenchNet hasn\u2019t set up any polls!<\/p>\n<p>Now, what if you want to search for all the messages on a particular subject? The best way to do this, is to enter a keyword into the search box at the top right and then click on the magnifying glass:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2192\" src=\"https:\/\/iti-frenchnetwork.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/GGG_messages_Image6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"602\" height=\"46\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iti-frenchnetwork.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/GGG_messages_Image6.jpg 602w, https:\/\/iti-frenchnetwork.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/GGG_messages_Image6-300x23.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 602px) 100vw, 602px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s also the Filter button. When you click on it, you get two options: Hashtags or Any Time:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2193\" src=\"https:\/\/iti-frenchnetwork.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/GGG_messages_Image7.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"224\" height=\"94\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Click on \u201cAny Time\u201d to filter your results by a specific period of time, e.g. Past Week.<\/p>\n<p>If you click on \u201cHashtags\u201d\u2026 well, that\u2019s a whole other kettle of fish! We\u2019re in the process of tidying up the hashtags to try to make them more meaningful. If you know a bit about #hashtagmanagement, I\u2019d love to hear from you.
